Photography has always been more than a hobby to Jolene. Her dream of becoming a professional photographer started at age 10 when she tagged along with a commercial photographer on shoots and in the darkroom. Jolene began photographing family and friends in beautiful Northern California more than 20 years ago. Like most young girls, she always loved horses and begged rides from friends until she was given a buckskin Quarter horse named, what else but, "Buck". It was a dream come true riding through the vineyards, up in the hills and of course, on the beach!

She moved to Minneapolis in 1992 to finish her Bachelors Degree at North Central Bible College, which included receiving a diploma in Photographic Arts at the School of Communication Arts. After spending 7 years working in Pediatric Research at an inner-city hospital, Jolene had gotten back into riding and decided to pursue photography full time. Avalon Photography LLC was established in 2000.

Jolene strives to create eye-catching extraordinary images that capture the spirit and is known for her patience and expertise with bringing out the best in both horses and people while having fun in the process!

Jolene is an active member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the Minnesota Professional Photographers Association (MPPA) and the Twin Cities Professional Photographer Association (TCPPA).
